Overview

A solar water heater (solar hot water storage tank) is a tank that stores the heat from a solar collector as domestic hot water. Omega makes this tank from 120 to 1,250 liters, with enamel inner coating and 75 mm PU insulation. That way, heat gathered from the sun during the day stays available as hot water when there is no sun.

The solar water heater does not generate heat itself; it stores it and keeps it ready to use. Fluid heated in the rooftop solar collector is carried into the tank through pipes and passes through a closed heat exchanger called a coil. The coil transfers the heat of its own fluid to the domestic water in the tank; the two fluids never mix at any point.

Solar water heating relies on three components working together: the rooftop solar collector, the circuit that circulates fluid between the collector and the tank, and the tank that stores the hot water. Omega makes only the last of these, the tank itself; producing solar collectors or panels is outside Omega's scope. This product works together with an existing or newly installed solar collector system.

Solar Water Heater Prices

Solar water heater prices vary by capacity. As of July 2026, market references start around 20,000 TL for models near 150 liters and reach about 78,000 TL for 1,000-liter models. For large-scale and wholesale projects such as hotels, farms or apartments, the price is set by quote and is usually below retail; share your project scale for an exact figure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a solar water heater?

A solar water heater is a tank that takes heat from a solar collector through an internal coil, transfers it to the domestic water and stores that hot water. Omega models range from 120 to 1,250 liters, made with enamel inner coating and 75 mm PU insulation.

How does a solar hot water storage tank work?

Fluid heated in the rooftop solar collector reaches the coil inside the tank. As it circulates through the coil pipes it transfers its heat to the domestic water filling the tank, and never mixes with it. Thanks to 75 mm PU insulation, the heated water stays warm even when there is no sun.

What is the difference between a solar water heater and a regular water heater?

In a regular water heater the water is heated by an electric element or an external boiler. A solar water heater has an extra coil inside the tank; heated fluid passing through it carries the heat from the solar collector to the water. The body (enamel coating, cathodic protection, PU insulation) stays the same; the difference is that the heat source is the sun.

What capacity of solar water heater is needed?

The need depends on the number of users and hot water habits. Residential use is usually met with lower capacities, apartments and farms with mid capacities, and intensive users such as hotels with capacities up to 1,000-1,250 liters. The right size should be assessed together with the number of draw-off points and daily hot water demand.
